An old rowing boat abandoned on the banks of the Dordogne - left to rot and return to the elements.
The boat was obviously made by an accomplished craftsman who, long ago, had fashioned the timber to perfection.
Its replacement was probably made of polythene or glass fibre - functional, durable and inexpensive, but not a "work of art" like its predecessor.
