ROCK STARS ... #1 BLYDE RIVER CANYON

Having recently returned from a trip to the South African province of Mpumalanga, I have decided to feature some of the photographs taken of the spectacular geological formations in that area. Today's post features the Blyde River Canyon - the third largest canyon in the world! I have emphasized the "blue yonder" to highlight the depth and extent of this river-incised land form. It is estimated that the relatively small river began forming this canyon about a million years ago!
