AN IMPENETRABLE BARRIER

Looking at this photograph taken on our trip back from Cape Town and considering the impasse between the terrorists in Paris and the police, I felt that this illustrates any situation where there seems to be no way forward - the road is blocked by mountains, real or virtual!  Mountains of misunderstanding, ignorance and intolerance, built up over centuries.

But just as a path exists through these mountains - a poort carved by a river determined to find a shorter path to the sea, so a path must exist through all seemingly impenetrable situations.  One just has to keep looking.

Meiringspoort is a 25 km pass following the course of the Grootrivier through the Swartberg mountains between De Rust and Klaarstroom in the Western Cape
