“The best order of things, as I see it, is the one that includes me;
to hell with the most perfect of worlds, if I'm not part of it.”
- Denis Diderot [Rameau's Nephew / d'Alembert's Dream]
This statue of the philosopher, Denis Diderot (1713 - 1784) is in the Boulevard Saint-Germain.
The pigeon perched on his head and peering at the piece of paper in his hand which may have the words above inscribed on it. The expression on the face of the pigeon seems to say, "D'accord!" (I agree)
OJ
to hell with the most perfect of worlds, if I'm not part of it.”
