BLEU, BLANC, ROUGE ?

Coincidence or a display of national pride?  Were my neighbours deliberately "flying the flag" - improvising the blue, white and red of the tricouleur with their curtains?

This was the scene that greeted us each morning as we looked out of the window of the apartment which we hired in the 9th arrondissement in 2010 (and again in 2011).
