THE ICONIC BUILDINGS OF PARIS - #6 LA MADELEINE

The last in this series on the iconic buildings of Paris features the well-known church dedicated to Mary Magdalene.  As seems to be a French tradition of indecision, the building, although started in 1764, was only finally consecrated in 1845.  The Revolution, various wars and the era of Napoleon saw its original purpose go through alternate suggestions for its use as: a parliament, a bank, a temple of glory to Napoleon and then finally (back to the original idea) a church!
