MONPAZIER MARKET UNDER THE ARCHES

Thursday is market day in the 13th century bastide town of Monpazier.  The stone arches supporting the roof of the market square are typical of the area and a particular period.  Historians believe this building style was a relic of the Roman occupation of the area which ended in the 5th century.
