The Berlin Falls are formed where the Waterval Spruit cascades 80 metres off a scarp exposing the quartzite rock of the Wolkberg Group. The sheer scarp is probably the result of faulting.
While photographing the waterfall and the surrounding area, I noticed these intrepid (and surefooted) locals crossing the river just above the waterfall!
I guess they've done it before ...
