The small vineyard featured yesterday is la vigne de Montmartre
in the Rue des Saules.
Very little remains of the vineyard planted in the 1930s in an attempt to halt the housing development destroying the village atmosphere of the area.
I visited the vineyard on a midwinter afternoon and as it is on the western slopes of Montmartre the sun had not yet melted the previous night's frost!
