SAINT-SEVERIN
The Church of St-Severin in the 5th arrondissement is named after a hermit who lived in the area in the 6th century and is credited with convincing the son of King Clovis to take holy orders.
The present church was completed in the early 16th century and is an excellent example of the Flamboyant Gothic style - the twisted pillars are typical of this style. It replaced an earlier structure that dated back to the 11th century. The colourful stained glass windows are from a variety of periods.
