PILLARS OF THE CHURCH

These time-worn ancient 12th century columns surround a small garden in the cloisters of the Collegiate Church of Saint-Salvy in Albi - a quiet refuge away from the commercial hustle and bustle that surrounds the Cathedral Basilica of Saint-Cecilia.
I have reduced the photograph to monochrome to emphasize the weathering and general wear and tear suffered by the columns over the past +/- 800 years.
