THE TRANQUIL LOIR

Often when I mention Le Loir, people correct me, saying, "Do you mean La Loire?" No I don't!
They are two separate rivers and although they run parallel to each other and not very far apart, they are not connected!  I don't know if the Loir is named after the dormouse ... or if the dormouse (un loir) is named after the river - much like the chicken and egg argument!
