The Chartreuse Mountains of eastern France are truly magnificent rising to heights of 2000 metres and more. The range stretches from Grenoble in the south to Chambery in the north. The peaks include Chamechaude, Mont Granier, Dent de Crolles, Mont Beauvoir, Grand Som and Les Lances de Malissard. Pine forests fill the valleys below the mountains.
