ESTABLISHED IN 542 A.D.

St-Germain-des-Pres is the oldest church in Paris having been established by King Childebert in 542. It then became a Benedictine abbey until it was destroyed during the Revolution in 1794 when a mob murdered 318 priests.

The present church was restored in the 19th century.

The interior of the church is decorated in an eclectic mix of architectural styles from 6th century marble columns to Gothic vaulting and Romanesque arches.
