Le Bugue is a small town (population +/- 3000) on the Vezere River. Its history may be traced back to 964 A.D. when Benedictine monks established a monastry. Another interesting element of its history is that in November 1319 King Philippe Le Long ordered that a market be held every Tuesday morning in perpetuity - a tradition that continues to this day.
