BACCARAT

This display of Baccarat crystal ware caught my eye while walking near the Place Vendome.

An investment in a vase or statuette of this quality could be seen as an effort to capture light - sunlight falling on these items is refracted, diffracted, reflected and multiplied seemingly producing more light than that which actually fell on the item.

It is astounding that the glassworks that produces these items was established in the town of Baccarat (Lorraine) in 1764 more than 250 years ago!
