L'AIGUILLE DE CLÉOPÂTRE

Paris, London and New York are the new homes of three Ancient Egyptian obelisks removed from Egypt and re-erected in these respective cities during the 1800s.

Although popularly named after Queen Cleopatra, the obelisks were in fact over a thousand years old when she was queen!

The photograph of Le Place de la Concorde with La Madeleine in the background, was taken on a crisp mid-December afternoon with the setting sun lending all the buildings a golden hue.
