This imposing tower is all that remains of a very old church which was destroyed during the Revolution. It was built in 1523 and was a meeting place for pilgrims setting out on long journeys such as the one made by so many to Santiago in Spain.
A statue of the mathematician, Blaise Pascal, has been erected on the ground floor, commemorating the experiments on atmospheric pressure which he conducted at the tower in the 17th century.
