God's Window is a viewsite on the edge of the eastern escarpment of South Africa in the Mpumalanga Province (mpumalanga = where the sun rises). At an altitude of 1 730 metres and with a sheer drop to the Lowveld 800 metres below, it affords one a view that on a clear day stretches about 100 kilometres to the Lebombo Mountains, the border between South Africa and Mocambique.
I found the sign on this stone garbage bin amusing! Of course keeping God's Window clean would require more than a cloth and a squirt of Windolene ... It would require convincing the power stations to the west of this spot, to stop burning cheap, low-grade, dirty coal to generate electricity!
An incredible view.
