CAFE ET BONAPARTE!

This cafe near St Germain des Pres bears the name of a famous coffee drinker, none other than Napoleon himself! A regular at Procope, when a cadet at the Military Academy, he is alleged to have often left his hat as security until he could return to pay for the coffee he had enjoyed.

"Strong coffee, much strong coffee, is what awakens me. Coffee gives me warmth, waking, an unusual force and a pain that is not without great pleasure."
- Napoleon Bonaparte
