TRADOUW PASS

The Tradouw Pass lies between Suurbraak and Barrydale in the Western Cape. For a distance of 14 km, the R324 follows the poort carved through the Langeberg Mountains by the Tradouw River.  "Tradouw" is a Khoisan word meaning "the women's path".

The original pass was built by Thomas Bain from 1869 to 1873 and remnants of the old road are still visible from the new road.
