BERGERAC'S "OLD TOWN"

Bergerac was originally an important river port on the Dordogne with tobacco farming being more important than wine production in the surrounding area.  As a result, one of the chief tourist attractions in the town is its Musee du Tabac.

The picture above was taken in the quiet residential area of the "Old Town" where beautifully restored ancient houses are clustered around squares such as this.
