CONFLUENCE

The double bridges at the confluence of the Vezere and Dordogne at Limeuil form a well-known landmark.  These rivers provided convenient waterways for the boats that transported goods between the port of Bordeaux and the Aquitaine interior.  The river traffic was later replaced by the railways and these in turn by quicker and more efficient door-to-door road transport.

  1. This beautiful village with its ancient houses some with emblems depicting the route of the Campostella de Santiago is just ten minutes away from Tremolat and the French Country Cottage, Les Chouettes, where we spent three glorious weeks exploring the Dordogne.
