The quiet countryside behind Cadouin Abbey on a crisp winter's morning. One can imagine these fields in the 12th century, filled with the camps of pilgrims who had come to view (for a fee of course) a piece of cloth reputed to be a piece of the shroud that had covered Jesus in the tomb. It is stated that the abbey grew rich from the pilgrimages to the relic!
