Looking back at the 99 posts which preceded this one, I note that the post which received the highest number of views was the one in which I celebrated the passing of a law in France which conferred "sentient being" status on dogs!
It included the photograph on the left of two very patient "sentient beings" obediently waiting for their owner outside the boulangerie in Lalinde.
The eight dogs (and a duck) in the collage above were all photographed in Paris where it has been estimated that there is one dog for every seven Parisians. The pavements often suggest that this may be an under-estimation! Dogs are welcome in most parks, in restaurants, on buses and the Metro where if they are carried in a shopping bag they are classified as luggage and therefore require no ticket!

General Charles de Gaulle is reputed to have said, "The better I get to know men, the more I find myself loving dogs." A sentiment presumably shared today by many of his compatriots!
