BREAKFAST NECTAR


As we left Hogsback we spotted this Black Sunbird sipping nectar from a protea in the garden.  He watched us warily, not too keen to leave his meal of breakfast nectar.

The male Black Sunbird, although predominantly black, has bright spots of amethyst on its shoulders and throat and an iridescent green forehead.  There are regional variations in the size of these colour spots.
