The last in this series of things "Found in the Garden" - which I guess has been necessitated by Covid-19 travel restrictions - highlights the humble bumble bee. An elusive fellow when it comes to trying to photograph him, but the sound he makes always announces his presence. The bumble bee has a longer tongue than ordinary bees and is therefore a more efficient pollinator. Unfortunately due to the use of insecticides bumble bee populations and consequently the plants they pollinate have been adversely affected. So to save the plants, look after the bumble bees!
Apparently bumble bees are attracted to purple and blue flowers and ignore red flowers ... I guess it's their democratic right to choose BLUE over RED!
