A quick early morning visit by a female Klaas's Cuckoo to the wild olive outside my study window was the highlight of my day yesterday. I often hear the cuckoo's call, but seldom see it as it moves furtively through the trees.
William Wordsworth described the same cuckoo behaviour in his poem, To the Cuckoo:
" O blithe New-comer! I have heard,
I hear thee and rejoice;
O Cuckoo! shall I call thee Bird,
Or but a wandering Voice?"
