MONOCHROME MONDAY #127: COURTANVAUX

My theme for this week is "Les portails" - entrances, doorways and gates.  Not many can be more impressive than the Renaissance postern of this chateau in the Loir valley near Besse-sur-Braye.  The Chateau of Courtanvaux was built in the 14th Century with various additions being constructed later in the 15th and 16th centuries.

OJ - remembering a visit to the chateau and its magnificent garden and lake surrounded by trees just beginning to change to their autumn colours.
