MONOCHROME MONDAY #116: FONTAINE DES MERS

 


The Fontaine des Mers (the Fountain of the Seas) has been a feature of the Place de la Concorde in Paris since 1840.

This video I came across shows what it looked like about 120 years ago - the first thing one notices is that the streams of water were more generous and exuberant then, than they are now.  I wonder why ...
