You pick up your camera and go for a stroll through the picturesque streets of an old city - like here it is le quartier medieval de Bordeaux - and what happens ... you see the possibility of a fine composition: the ancient greys and browns of old buildings, crosses and a chimney silhouetted against the sky, the shadows accentuating the shapes of doorways and windows, a winding cobbled street, a lady with her dog and copper streetlights leading the eye into the middle distance ... AND then you see the dustbin!
There's always a dustbin to ruin the picture!

Wouldn't it be fun to do a series or competition of fabulous famous sites - with a dustbin also in the photo.
