When I was growing up, the egret was referred to as the "tick bird" often seen pecking the ticks off the cattle in the fields.
However, at the coast one often finds the Little Egret
(Egretta garzetta) wading through shallow tidal pools pecking small molluscs off the rocks.
Has he developed a preference for
les fruits de mer? Or does he just enjoy the sea air?
