1 May ... and again time to join other City Daily Photo bloggers by choosing a blogpost according to a theme.
LAUGH is the theme for today.
I immediately thought of the "Laughing Cavalier" by Frans Hals, but instead chose his painting of the "Merry Drinker" which hangs in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. This painting is more likely to make you laugh!
I particularly like the way Hals has captured the unfocused gaze of the drinker - his eyes don't look back at you, but instead seem to look beyond you. The Delft potter's version of the Hals painting has an even more glazed look about it!
