TULIPS (AND A STRELITZIA) FROM AMSTERDAM

Being South African, I was surprised to see an indigenous southern African plant in the middle of a display of tulip and other bulbs for sale in a canal-side flower market.
The strelitzia (also known as the Bird of Paradise flower) is named after the Duchy of Mecklenberg-Strelitz, birthplace of Queen Charlotte of the United Kingdom (1744 - 1818).
