The Le Guiers Vif is a river that flows through the Entremont Valley in the Chartreuse region marking the boundary between the departments of Isere and Savoie.
An artisan tasked with the construction of a deck outside a riverside restaurant obviously decided to move away from the normal sawing of the timber and instead fashioned a fish at the end of two of the planks ... an attention to detail which I found amusing. Perhaps he was an enthusiastic fisherman and was dreaming of what lurked in the river below.
