A masked weaver (
ploceus velatus) basks in the morning sun, smugly satisfied with his sartorial splendour!
These weavers are common residents in Southern African suburbia where they can wreak havoc in gardens as they "harvest" plant material to weave their nests.
I think it is a small price to pay to have such beautiful visitors to one's garden.
