HANGING AROUND THE PLACE DU TERTRE
Place du Tertre in (or should it be "on") Montmartre is renowned for its congregation of "artists" busily painting mementos for starry-eyed visitors to Paris.
Some earnestly paint portraits of tourists who for the time that they sit for their chosen painter, are as much of a tourist attraction as the paintings on display.
Painters have been painting and displaying there work in the Place du Tertre since the 19th century. I would suggest that this is a far more enticing exhibition than the gallows which stood in this square in earlier times!
