To celebrate my 800th post, we travel to Annecy in Haute Savoie and stroll through the narrow alleyways and the covered arcades of the Le Vieil Annecy. The Italian influence on the architecture and colour schemes of this territory which was formerly part of the Kingdom of Sardinia, are still very evident and do not be surprised if you hear the locals speaking Italian rather than French - after all it only became part of France in 1860!
