A WALLACE FOUNTAIN
Wallace fountains are found on the most popular pavements of Paris where they provide the public with clean drinking water.
They date back to the period after the Franco-Prussian War when potable water was in short supply.
The cast iron fountains were designed by the sculptor Charles-Auguste Lebourg and are named after the English benefactor, Sir Richard Wallace who financed the project.
