A blue tourist bus is shown entering the Musee de Louvre from the Rue de Rivoli.
The buildings that house one of the most important art collections in the world have a history dating back to medieval times.
Originally built by King Philippe-Auguste in 1190 as a fortress to protect Paris from the Viking raiders, it has slowly evolved over the centuries with additions and renovations each leaving their own discernible architectural embellishments.
