VULTURE RESTAURANT
No Michelin stars at this restaurant which caters exclusively for the dwindling vulture population of the North Eastern Cape. Local farmers provide the carcasses of animals that have died and the vultures soon gather to pick the bones clean.
It has been estimated that only 8 000 Cape Vultures remain with poaching, poison and power-lines being the main threats to their continued existence. The Cape Vulture is the largest raptor in Africa and one can only hope that projects such as this will ensure that their numbers will increase.
