THE HONEY STALL
The markets in France are fantastic. They provide opportunities for customers to interact with the farmers and other merchants, discussing the weather, the latest political scandal (there's always one or more), the state of the economy, the recent accomplishments of football or rugby teams and their produce, so proudly displayed.
Like this bee-keeper with his wide variety of honeys and honey products - he would be affronted if you just bought something without indulging in a little discussion.
Photographed at the Bastille market in September 2011.
