LE BADAUD DE SARLAT

This bronze statue by the sculptor, Gerard Auliac is entitled, Le badaud (The loiterer).  He sits on a wall overlooking the Place de la Liberte watching the goings-on as the people of Sarlat and the thousands of tourists pass by.  He seems to be waiting for an opportunity to get up to some mischief - to pounce on something dropped by a stall-holder or to pick someone's pocket.  I do not think the sculptor gave him such long fingers by accident!
