LES ELEPHANTS DE CHAMBERY
A famous landmark in Chambery is this fountain made by Victor Sappey in 1838 to commemorate the exploits of Count Boigne in India. Four very life-like elephants support a tall column which is capped by a statue of the count.
The local ice-hockey team is known as the "Elephants", taking their name from the statue - we can only hope that their speed and agility on the ice is better than their name suggests!
