PONT NEUF

Opened in 1607 by King Henry IV and named the "new bridge", Pont Neuf still serves as a major traffic conduit 407 years later!  Obviously it was built to last!

The faces on the bridge, particularly the more grotesque ones, are alleged to depict those councillors who were opposed to the project when it was proposed in the 16th century!

I guess I forgot to say "Smile!" before taking this photograph!
