Staying with the theme of "Red", I have chosen the rooibok (the Afrikaans name for the impala or red buck).
It has been estimated that between 150 000 and 200 000 impala roam the grasslands of the Kruger National Park. The game rangers refer to them as "MacDonalds" as they are the most common "take-aways" favoured by the carnivores in the park.
