A MILLION MIRACLES

Turning grapes into wine is not an easy process ... it involves a series of tasks that have to be performed at the right time, under the correct conditions and for the appropriate duration.

I heard the renowned winemaker, Ian Naude explain it as follows ...

"Once the grapes are picked, you have to wait for a million miracles to occur before the wine is presented, the cork is drawn and the first taste poured."

The sculptor of this statue of a young vineyard worker (or is it a young Bacchus?) has captured the conflicting expressions of doubt and hope that must occur when the grapes are harvested ... Have we picked too soon?  Will these grapes produce a great wine?

Only time will tell.
