LES ARRONDISSEMENTS DE PARIS … #18 MONTMARTRE

It was a surprise to find the Moulin de la Galette at the end of the Rue Lepic creating a perfect "Kodak moment"!

In earlier times there were more than thirty such windmills on the Butte de Montmartre - catching the wind to mill the grain to ensure a ready supply of flour for "the daily bread" of the people of Paris.

The 18th arrondissement  is now a popular residential area offering spectacular views of the city below, but evidence of its 19th century popularity as the home of artists, writers, poets and their followers still remain.

It is a wonderful area to explore when in Paris!
