The city of Paris is divided into 20 arrondissements starting at the geographical centre and moving clockwise outward from the centre in a spiral. The first arrondissement was originally known as Les Halles, but as that market no longer exists, a more popular current name is Le Louvre - naming the district after the world's most famous art museum which lies at the very heart of Paris.
