OUT OF REACH


This trebuchet mounted on the battlements of the chateau at Castelnaud would have been incapable of causing any anxiety among the enemy safely ensconced in Beynac Castle in the distance.

These castles on either side of the Dordogne date back to the period of the Hundred Years' War when for a time the Dordogne was the boundary between France and the English occupied areas to the south.
